Liverpool make Colwill approach

Liverpool have made an approach to Chelsea to sign their young defender Levi Colwill.

The 20 year old was part of the England side that has just won the under-21 European Championships, and was voted into the team of the tournament.

He spent last season on loan with Brighton, who have already made several offers to buy him in the current transfer window, all of which were rejected.

Now Liverpool are set to test the resolve of their Premier League rival with a more attractive proposal.

Whilst both Chelsea and Colwill have previously indicated a desire for him to stay in West London, that may decide on their plans for him next season. He will now be expecting to challenge for a regular first-team place at Stamford Bridge, and, if that cannot be promised to him, he may want to push for a move that can deliver that.

His current deal with Chelsea is set to expire in 2025.
