Chelsea are ready to make a move for Lyon attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki.
The 19 year old has been identified as a potential replacement for Christian Pulisic, who is edging closer to his own switch to AC Milan.
He is valued at around £36 million by the Ligue 1 side.
Cherki is a product of the Lyon youth system, having been born and raised in the city, and is under contract at the French club until 2025.
PSG had an offer for Cherki rejected in January, but a change in Lyon’s position means that they are now much more amenable to a sale. They are having problems meeting France’s FFP (Financial Fair Play) rules, and they may be forced to sell players in order to comply.
He has been on Chelsea’s radar for some time, and was watched by their scouts during the recent European under-21 Championship, where he was playing for France.
His versatility is one of his strengths – he can play anywhere along the front line, as well as being deployed further back in midfield.
