Newcastle United want to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.
Having had a highly successful loan spell with Crystal Palace, where his form was good enough to earn him a place in the England squad under Gareth Southgate, Gallagher finally got his chance at Stamford Bridge last season, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
Whilst that did not match what he achieved at Palace, it needs to be set in the context of the chaos that Chelsea were in last season, with few players reaching their potential.
It is not clear whether he figures in the plans of new manager Mauricio Pochettino, however, and, whilst there is uncertainty surrounding his future, speculation will continue that he may move away from the club.
Although Newcastle have yet to make a formal offer for him, indications are that Chelsea may be prepared to let him go for a fee of around £35 million.
