Callum Hudson-Odoi is the latest Chelsea player to be linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
N’Golo Kanté has already announced that he is joining Karim Benzema at Al=Ittihad, and Kalidou Koulibaly and Hakim Ziyeh are finalising their own moves to the Middle East.
Hudson-Odoi, at 22, is much younger than many other players linked with similar moves this summer, but he is somewhat at a cross-roads in his career, having become something of a forgotten man in English football.
Once touted as a future star, he spent the last season on loan in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen, but did not impress enough to earn a permanent switch, and is expected back at Stamford Bridge this summer. He made just 14 starts for the Bundesliga club, with his time there blighted by the injuries that have become a major narrative of his footballing story.
However, he is not thought to be part of new manager Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.

He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
