Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is being linked with a return to the Bundesliga this summer.
The 30 year old Swiss international and captain is about to enter into the final year of his current contract at the Emirates, and, although there were suggestions that he may be offered a renewal earlier this season, no talks are currently planned.
He remains a key player for Mikel Arteta, but, with the club looking to strengthen their midfield options in the coming transfer window, with the return of Champions League football to the Emirates, he is starting to consider his future in the side.
There is already concrete interest in Xhaka from Bayer Leverkusen, the club that he left in 2016 to sign for the Gunners. Although previously a divisive figure for the Gunners, Xhaka has since rehabilitated himself with the club’s fans for his leadership on the pitch and battling attitude, as well as how he has adapted to a more advanced role under Arteta this season.
