Arsenal midfielder Marcelo Flores has signed a two year contract extension, which will keep him at the club until 2025.
The 19 year old was out of contract in the summer, and could have left for free, but the extension not only demonstrates their faith in him, but also protects the value of their investment.
Flores, who has drawn comparisons with Santi Cazorla because of his playing style, is already a full Mexican international.
He is currently on loan in Spain with Real Oviedo, who play in the second division there, and has made 15 appearances for them this season.
It is likely he will also go out on loan next season, although the Gunners may look to find him another club in order to broaden his experience.
Flores has yet to make a senior appearance for the Gunners, but he has trained with the first-team squad and was named on the bench for a league game against Crystal Palace last season.
