Chelsea have won the race to sign Jamaican wonderkid Dujuan Richards.
It was his present club Phoenix All Stars, who are based in Kingston, Jamaica who announced the news, posting pictures on their social media account of his signing his pre-contract agreement.
He is still just 17, so cannot sign his first professional contract until he turns 18.
Richards scored 31 goals and provided 19 assists for his current club last season, had been on trial with Newcastle and attended one of their matches last month. The North-East club too wanted to sign him, but Chelsea have beaten them to the punch.
Despite his tender years, Richards has just received his first senior call-up his first call-up to the senior Jamaica side ahead of two friendlies against neighbouring Trinidad and Tobago.
Nicknamed “Whisper” Richards first joined Phoenix when he was 12 years ago and his signing for Chelsea is a proud moment for both him and the club.
