Arsenal have opened talks about a new contract with winger Reiss Nelson, the hero of their in against Bournemouth at the weekend.
Having played just 64 minutes of Premier League football he came off the bench to provide an assist for Ben White’s equaliser, and, then, in the eighth minute of injury time, himself scored the winner that preserved the club’s five point lead at the top of the table.
The 23 year old a product of the Hale End academy, has bean an Arsenal fan all his life, and has never made any secret of the fact that his preference is to stay with the club.
However, he is out of contract at the end of the season and there were some who believed that it would be best if he moved on for the sake of his long-term future.
Mikel Arteta has made no secret of nis admiration for Nelson, whose progress at the Emirates has been impeded by injuries.
However, fit again, he could yet have a significant part to play in what remains of the season.
