N’Golo Kanté is set to sign a new contract at Chelsea.
The French midfielder’s existing deal at Stamford Bridge runs out in four months’ time, and there was speculation that he was going to leave the club as a free agent, with rumours of a possible return to France with PSG.
Barcelona, Atlético Madrid were among the other clubs tracking his situation.
There was also a belief in some quarters that Chelsea would be happy to see him go, given his recent injury record. He has missed much of this season with a knee injury that also ruled him out of the Qatar World Cup.
The midfielder has yet to feature under Graham Potter, who will be cheered by the news that Kanté is back in training and could be ready for first-team action in the not too distant future
However, all such speculation is now at an end, with Kanté ready to follow the lead of Thaigo Silva in signing a contract extension.
