Liverpool are now being linked with a move for Chelsea’s Mason Mount whose talks over a new contract at Stamford Bridge have stalled.
Mount has been with the club since the age of six, and has been voted their Player of the Year by the club’s fans for the past two seasons.
With his current deal expiring in 2024, talks about a new contract have been continuing for a number of months already.
However, progress has stalled, with the two parties reported to be far apart when it comes to his salary demands, with Mount looking for parity with some of the top earners at the club, having been, up to this point, one of the lowest paid members of the first-team squad.
Chelsea are increasingly becoming reconciled to him not signing any new deal, which could force their hand in the summer, and could open the door for Liverpool, who see Mount as somebody could rejuvenate their midfield.
