Not content with having already spent close to £600 million in the transfer window, Todd Boehly now wants to add Neymar to the collection of talent available at Chelsea.
It follows news that Boehly flew to Paris on Tuesday to meet with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelafi, and one of the topics on the agenda was the future of Neymar, who seems set to leave the Ligue 1 club in the summer, despite having a contract that runs until 2027.
The Brazilian has had disagreements with a number of team-mates and other personnel at the club, and, although they will take a huge hit in terms of transfer fee – they signed him from Barcelona six years ago in a world record deal – there is a growing feeling that the 31 year old is becoming more trouble than he is worth.
For all that, he will still command a substantial price, and some Chelsea fans may be entitled to wonder if it is worth spending so much money on a player the wrong side of 30, and who comes with a large amount of baggage.
