Manchester City have been linked with a summer move for Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell.
Pep Guardiola’s side are potentially open to reinforcements in that position after allowing Joāo Cancelo to join Bayern Munich on loan, with an option to make the move permanent.
The England international moved to Chelsea from Leicester City for a fee of £45 million, but his time at Stamford Bridge has been dogged by injury problems, ruling him out of World Cup contention.
City will be aware of his fitness problems, so this could be something of a gamble on their part.
In addition, he now has to compete for a place in Graham Potter’s team with Marc Cucurella, whom Graham Potter is thought to favour because of their shared Brighton connection.
And with the need to trim their bloated squad in the summer, Chelsea may be prepared to let the 26 year old leave.
