Not content with spending over £300 million in the January transfer window and breaking the British record to sign Enzo Fernandez on deadline day, it seems Chelsea had even more ambitious plans.
That is because it has now emerged that Todd Boehly made an audacious approach to sign Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat on loan.
Defensive midfielder Amrabat was one of the stars of the Qatar World Cup, where he played every single minute for his country as they became the first African, and Arab side, to reach the semi-finals.
He currently plays for Fiorentina in Serie A, and they have already turned down multiple offers for his services, insisting that he is not for sale.
Amrabat posted a cryptic message on deadline day suggested that he wanted to leave the club but, for once, Boehly and Chelsea did not get their way.
Both Barcelona and Liverpool are among the clubs interested in him.
