Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has joined Arsenal.
The 31-year old has signed an 18 month contract at the Emirates for a fee of £12 million including add-ons.
The news has not been greeted widely by Arsenal fans, with the club having been previously linked with a record bid to sign Brighton Moises Caicedo.
However, when it became clear that the South Coast club were not prepared to sell him at any price, the Gunners were forced to turn elsewhere, as they look to bring in cover for Thomas Partey for the rest of the seaso9n.
Arsenal do not have a good recent record of signing ex-Chelsea players. Petr Cech and David Luiz were well past their best by the time they arrived at the Emirates, whilst Willin’s spell with the club was almost an unmitigated disaster.
Italian international Jorginho joined Chelsea from Napoli in 2018, and made more than 200 appearances in all competitions.
He won the Champions League, Europa League and Club World Cup during his time at Stamford Bridge.
