Thiago Silva has agreed a one year contract extension that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2024.
The Brazilian international. may be 38 years old now, but he remains one of the best defenders in the Premier League and his experience will be valuable as Graham Potter looks to build a title challenging team again.
Since joining the club from PSG, he has racked up more than 100 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea, and has helped them win the Champions League and the Club World Cup.
He is on a reported £110,000 a week, which makes him one of the lower paid players in their first team squad, but one who,, arguably, offers much better value for money than some of his team-mates.
At the same time, Chelsea will need to manage his workload properly and not ask him to play too many games.
