Arsenal are trying to sign 20-year old Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga on loan for the rest of the season.
Strengthening midfield is a long-term priority for the Gunners, who are aware that they are overly reliant on Thomas Partey staying fit if they are to maintain their title challenge.
The 20-year old French international was signed by the Spanish champions from Rennes in 2021 for £26 million, but he has struggled for minutes this season.
Despite that, he was still part of the French squad at the Qatar World Cup.
A loan deal may suit both parties. It will give Camavinga more game time, and mean that the Gunners are free to concentrate their efforts on more long-term targets like Declan Rice.
The Gunners have a history of loaning players from Real Madrid, twice taking Dani Ceballas and then Martin Ødegaard before making the Norwegian’s move permanent.
