Chelsea gazump Mudryk deal

Chelsea have gazumped Arsenal’s bid to sign Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk.

The Gunners had been negotiating a deal to sign the 22-year old with his current club Shakhtar Donetsk, and everything appeared close to finalisation.

However, at the last minute, Chelsea have out-bid them, offering more money up-front and more in terms of add-ons and bonuses.

Whilst he was offered a five year contract at the Emirates, he is set to sign a seven year deal at Stamford Bridge on better money.

It is a bitter blow for Arsenal who had made Mudryk their number one target, although a section of their fan base will be glad they are not paying over the odds for such an unproven player.

As for Chelsea, they appear determined to spend their way out of their current predicament, and Financial Fair Play (FFP) does not appear to be a concern for them.
