Chelsea are interested in Celtic defender Josip Juranović, who was part of the Croatia squad that reached the semi-final of the World Cup in Qatar, and was eventually placed third in the tournament.
They have been forced to try and look for a replacement after Reece James suffered another injury setback in the Premier League playing against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.
After recovering from the knee injury that ruled him out of England’s World Cup plans, he was fit enough to start against the Cherries, but his comeback lasted just 53 minutes before he limped off with a recurrence of the knee problem.
He is expected to be out for at least a month, but there are fears that it could be indicative of a longer-term issue, and, feeling that they can take no chances, Chelsea have begun casting around for alternatives, with Juranović an option under consideration. Juranović joined Chelsea from Legia Warsaw last year, and has made 34 appearances for the Scottish champions, scoring three times.
