Arsenal full-back Cedric Soares has been linked with a switch ot Fulham in the January transfer window.
The Portuguese international joined the Gunners on a free transfer after leaving Southampton in 2020, but has been third choice in the right-back role behind Ben White and Takehiro Tomayasu, and has been limited to cameo appearances only.
The 31 year old, who is under contract at the Emirates until 2024, now knows that, if he wants regular first-team football, he will be forced to go elsewhere.
If he does join Fulham, he will hook-up with another Gunners old boy in goalkeeper Bernd Leno, who made a similar move from North to West London in the summer.
Whilst Arsenal can expect only a nominal fee for the full-back, his departure will help free up some more room on the wage bill, which may help with several of the key contract renewals which are being targeted at the Emirates.
