Chelsea have had scouts at the World Cup and one man they have been tracking is Portugal winger Rafael Leāo, even though he only came off the bench in their opening two games against Ghana and Uruguay.
His performances for AC Milan last season helped them win their first Scudetto in a decade and he has continued that rich vein of form into this campaign.
Having played Milan twice in the group stages of the Champions League recently, Chelsea have had the chance to watch the 23 year old in action, and Graham Potter is a fan saying “you can see Leāo’s quality and skills, it’s obvious.”
Leāo is under contract at the San Siro until 2024, and the Serie A club would dearly like to tie him down to a new deal, although talks have stalled for the moment.
The question is do they have the financial wherewithal to keep him, with clubs like Chelsea circling in the water.
