Mikel Arteta has admitted that the Gunners are hoping to add more quality to their squad in January.
Whilst he has conceded that the winter window can be difficult, with teams reluctant to lose valuable assets in the middle of the season, without necessarily having the time to replace them, the Spaniard has indicated that they are looking at their options.
The club though will not go for quantity over quality. If anybody is signed, then they have to make the squad more competitive.
His comments come after Arsenal successfully navigated the group stages of the Europa League, avoiding an extra game in February. However, their passage was not without difficulty, and illustrated that there was a substantial drop-off in quality between the starting XI that feature in the Premier League every week, such as in the win over Chelsea, and some of the fringe players used in the cup competitions.
