Director of Football Edu is the latest man that Arsenal are trying to tie down toa new deal.
They are aware of interest for his services from at least two European clubs and now want to secure his long-term future at the club.
A former player with the Gunners, the Brazilian has helped oversee a transfer strategy which has helped make the team into serious top four contenders again, whilst jettisoning those players whose attitude and character do not suit the project, and who are not committed to the cause.
Indications are that he is committed to the club and wants to help transform them into serial contenders for silverware domestically and in Europe.
The 44 year old’s relationship with manager Mikel Arteta is a close one, and, with the Spaniard having signed his own new deal at the end of last season, the Arsenal Board wants to keep their relationship together.
