Chelsea want to sign a new striker in January.
The club continued to be heavily linked with a move for Christopher Nkonku of RB Leipzig, with suggestions that a deal for him could be done even before the start of the World Cup.
However, he is likely to remain at the Bundesliga side on loan for the rest of the season, and Graham Potter wants a more immediate solution as he looks to add more fire power.
One name who has been mentioned is Jonathan David of Lille, who has been on the club’s radar for some time, and who will shortly be heading to the World Cup with Canada.
David has scored 9 goals in 11 league games this season and has a further two assists to his name.
Whether he is worth the £50 million that the Ligue 1 side are thought to want for him is another question altogether.
