Arsenal’s owners the Kroenke family are prepared to back Mikel Arteta in the January transfer window if he wants to strengthen his squad.
Perhaps it is a case of lessons learned from earlier this year. Failure to bring in any new players in the winter transfer window meant that the squad was light on numbers and quality towards the end of the season, and injuries to several key players cost them dear in the end as they missed out on Champions League football.
It is claimed that the Gunners have already begun planning for the opening of the window and that their targets include a central midfielder and a wide forward.
Douglas Luiz, who the club failed to sign on transfer deadline day, is believed to be one name on their list of potential targets with young Ukrainian forward Mykhaylo Mudryk also in the frame, although Newcastle have also been linked with him.
