Arsenal have been scouting midfielder Lovro Majer, who has been described in his homeland of Croatia as the next Luke Modrić.
Representatives of the Gunners were on hand to watch him in action playing for Croatia against Denmark in the Nations League on Thursday. They would have liked what they saw as well, because he scored within a minute of coming on as a second-half substitute, a goal that was good enough to win the match.
He has been on their radar since moving to Ligue 1 side Rennes in a £10 million from Dinamo Zagreb just over a year ago.
He signed a five year deal with them at the time and, so well has he performed for his new club, that they value him now at £44 million, four times what they paid for him.
The North London side are not the only ones though keeping tabs on him, with both Real Madrid and Barcelona also being linked with him.
