Arsenal are considering a move for Portuguese midfielder Xeka who isa free agentg after leaving Ligue 1 side Lille.
Following injuries to both Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny, the Gunners tried to sign Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa on transfer deadline day, but, despite making three offers, were rebuffed.
Partey is back from injury sooner than expected, but has struggled to stay fit since his arrival from Atlético Madrid, but Elneny is expected to be out form months with a serious hamstring problems.
Mikel Arteta has admitted that he could so with more midfield options, but the club would normally have to wait until the January window opens before going back into the transfer market again.
However, because Xeka, who has been offered to a number of Premier League clubs, is a free agent, these stipulations do not apply to him.
During his time with Lille he helped them win the league title.
