Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu is set for yet another loan move.
The Welsh international was signed from Exeter City as a 16-year old by the Blues, but has only made 12 senior appearances for the club since then, and none of those in the Premier League.
Instead, he has been sent on a series of loan moves, with varying degrees of success, first to RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, and then to Sheffield United, although he could not prevent them being relegated at the end of his spell with them.
The same thing happened to him last season with Serie A side Venezia, with the newly promoted side going straight back down after just one year in the top flight.
However, Ampadu himself generally impressed, and that may be enough to earn him another loan spell back in Italy, this time with Empoli.
Talks between the parties concerned about salary and any loan fee are reported to be in progress.
