Talks held over cancelling Bellerin contract

Talks have been held between Arsenal and the agents of Hector Bellerín about cancelling his contract with the club.

The Spaniard spent last season on loan with bis boyhood club Real Betis, helping them win the Spanish Cup, their first silverware for 17 years.

He has made no secret of his desire to join them on a permanent basis, but their financial situation means that they are not in a position to pay anything like the sort of transfer fee Arsenal would want for a player who still has 12 months left on his current deal at the Emirates.

However, if his contract were to be terminated early, then he would effectively become a free agent and would be able to join Betis.

Technical Director Edu has made no secret of his desire to clear out dead wood at the club, believing that the presence in the squad of unhappy players is disruptive to team harmony.
