Chelsea are lining-up a bid for former Arsenal striker and captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Gabonese international only joined Barcelona on transfer deadline day in January after his acrimonious departure from the Gunners – covered in the latest episodes of the All or Nothing Amazon documentary series – but he may already be surplus to requirements at the Camp Nou.
The Catalans have signed a number of players this summer including Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha, but they are currently unable to register any of them until they trim their wage bill to comply with Spanish Financial Fair Play regulations. That could see the likes of Aubameyang and Frenkie de Jong forced to leave the club against their wishes.
Chelsea are looking for more striking options having sold Timo Werner back to RB Leipzig, and allowed Romelu Lukaku to re-join Inter Milan on loan.
They have signed Raheem Sterling, but he is not an out and out striker in the mould of Aubameyang.
