Chelsea’s move for Sevilla defender Jules Koundé could be about to collapse.
It appeared that the French international was about to become the Stamford Bridge side’s third summer signing – after Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly – after they agreed a £55 million fee for him with his current club Sevilla,
At that point financial restrictions seemed to rule Barcelona out of the race for the 23-year old.
However, now the Spanish side are back in the hunt for him, and have apparently told Koundé to wait for them to improve upon their original offer.
The player himself is thought to be keen to remain in Spain.
Barcelona have already pipped Chelsea to the signing of former Leeds winger Raphinha, and now they could be sent to further frustrate new owner Todd Boehly’s transfer strategy.
