Arsenal could now turn to Real Madrid’s Marco Asencio after missing out on Leeds United’s Raphinha.
They seemed all set to sign the Brazilian international, only to be gazumped by Chelsea, seemingly at the last minute.
And now they could turn their attention to Asencio, with Mikel Arteta reported to be a big fan of the player.
He has a just a year left in his contract and Madrid value him at £34 million. The Spanish club want him to sign an extension but he has become frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities under Carlo Ancelotti.
The North London side will likely face competition from Serie A, with Juventus and AC Milan both reported to be interested in signing him.
