Chelsea continue to be linked with a return to the club of defender Nathan Aké.
He is the latest player to be targeted by Todd Boehly as he looks to rebuild the defence under Thomas Tuchel.
However, whilst they are confident of getting Aké to return to the club he first joined from Feyenoord in 2011, his current employer Manchester City will only allow him to leave if they can find a suitable replacement for the 27 year old..
The Dutchman joined City from Bournemouth in 2020 for a fee of £41 million, but has largely been a bit-part player under Pep Guardiola, and he has made just 24 appearances in his time at the Etihad.
Chelsea lent him to Bournemouth in 2016, and then sold him to the South Coast club permanently a year later. The Blues inserted a buy-back clause in his contract but decided not to exercise it at the time.
