It could be a case of the dog being bitten with Barcelona ready to offer up to £60 million for Leeds United winger Raphinha.
A week ago he had seemed certain to join Arsenal, only for London rivals Chelsea to out-muscle them with a bid of £55 million for the 25-year old.
But now they could be gazumped in turn by Barcelona who are ready to make an offer worth £60 million to sign him.
Raphinha had made no secret originally of his desire to join La Liga club, but the move at that time seemed to be out of the question because of Barcelona’s financial situation.
That, though, may have been eased with the news that they have agreed a deal to sell 10% of their league television rights to a US investment company.
That will generate up to £230 million in revenue in the short-term, and could mean they are once again able to compete in the transfer market for the likes of Raphinha.
If Chelsea do lose out on the player, Arsenal fans can be excused a little schadenfreude.
