Chelsea have made a contract offer to Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembélé who is set to become a free agent by the end of the week.
The French international has been in negotiations with his current club Barcelona about extending his stay with them, but the talks have stalled because they want him to accept a reduced salary.
And now he has a choice to make – agree to that, or accept Chelsea’s offer instead.
A potential spanner was thrown in the works when it was revealed that Chelsea’s new owner Todd Boehly regarded Dembélé’s salary demands as excessive, and was prepared to give up on the pursuit of the player.
However, there appears now to have been a change of mind, and a fresh proposal has now come in to the player from West London.
This long running saga will soon reach a denouement, one way or the other.
