Chelsea are set to compete for Manchester United for the signature of Ajax winger Antony.
The Brazilian’s two seasons at the Eredivisie side since his move from Sao Paolo has seen him score 17 goals and provide 12 assists.
His performances have attracted interest from across Europe, but United have been the most heavily linked with the 22-year old, not surprisingly given that his former manager Erik ten Hag is ow in charge of them.
However, Chelsea may be able to hijack the deal, with reports that representatives met with Antony’s agents whilst they were in the UK recently.
Ousmane Dembélé remains the top target for Thomas Tuchel, but Barcelona manager Xavi has indicated that he now wants to keep him, and fresh talks are planned about his situation at the Nou Camp.
That has led the Stamford Bridge club to begin considering alternatives, and Antony’s name is one that has come to the fore.

He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
