Chelsea have lodged a formal bid for Sevilla’s Jules Koundé, according to local media in Spain.
At one time earlier in the transfer window, it seemed that the trail for the French international defender had gone cold, and that Chelsea ha turned their attention to other targets, like Barcelona’s Matthijs de Ligt.
But now the West London club have apparently put themselves back at the head of the queue again, and are looking to get the deal over the line as soon as possible.
There have also been suggestions that, in order to help ease him into English football, Thomas Tuchel will play Koundé at right-back, the position he has played for the French national team.
That will mean Reece James moving to centre-back until Koundé has had time to acclimatise to the Premier League.
