Petr Cech has quit his job as technical and performance advisor at Chelsea.
He is the latest influential figure to leave the club, following the retirement of chairman Bruce Buck and the news that the highly respected Marina Granovskaia will depart at the end of the transfer window.
The club’s new owner Todd Boehly, who has thanked him for his work, wanted Cech to continue in the role he assumed three years ago after ending his playing days with Arsenal., but the former goalkeeper believes that, with the takeover now completed, it is time for him to move on and seek a new challenge.
It signals an end to his relationship with the West London club dating back to 2004 when he was first signed by Jose Mourinho.
And it means that Chelsea have lost another key off the pitch figure as they look to rebuild after the upheavals of the past few months.
