Marseille are considering a move for Arsenal full-back Nuno Tavares.
The Portuguese under-21 international was signed from Benfica for £7.5 million ostensibly as cover for Kieran Tierney. He ended up making 27 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions last season, and whilst his showed promise as an attacking threat, his defending left something to be desired.
And, whilst there are some at the Emirates who believe he could yet mature, Mikel Arteta is yet to be convinced and could already be looking out for alternatives. Links with both Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez and Bologna’s Aaron Hickey persist.
The French side are weighing up a season long loan with an option to buy.
Tavares is also being associated with a move to Italy and Atalanta this summer, although financial constraints at the Serie A club may preclude any deal being done.
