As his country’s all-time top goalscorer, former Gabon international Aubameyang is currently plying his trade with Spanish giants FC Barcelona. Awarded his country’s National Order of Merit, we take a look at some of the top quotes on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The son of former international player, Pierre, he appeared in 72 matches for Gabon and netted a record 30 goals before retiring recently.
Born in France, Aubameyang represented a few teams before joining German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in 2013, where he had a prosperous goal scoring spree with 98 league goals in 144 games, 15 in 19 domestic cup games, and 26 in Europe.
There was an impressive 31 strikes in 32 league matches as the club finished third in the league, and scored the winning penalty in the final as Dortmund secured the domestic cup competition in 2016/17.
After five seasons in Germany, he moved to English Premier League side Arsenal. His prolific goal scoring continued with 68 in 128 league games. Despite only winning the FA Cup with the Gunners, where he was lauded for his two goals in the 2020 Final, Aubameyang shared the League’s Golden Boot in 2019.
Leaving Arsenal due to disciplinary issues, he joined up with Spanish team Barcelona where he has so far scored 11 times in 17 league games in his first season.
For Gabon, he appeared in four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
