Eddie Nketiah has signed a new five year deal with Arsenal.
The 23 year old was out of contract at the Emirates in a few weeks. time and was even included on the club’s recently issued released list.
However, he forced his way into Mikel Arteta’s side towards the end of the season, making eight successive starts and scoring five goals. That was enough to lead to a change of mind from both layer and club, and now he has signed a new five year deal.
Some reports have said this is worth up to £100,000 a week, although this likely to include a signing-on fee and performance related bonuses.
In a show of faith in the striker, Nketiah is set to inherit the number 14 shirt, worn in the past by the likes of Thierry Henry, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, which are big shoes to fill.
His signing does not affect the club’s pursuit of their main summer transfer target, Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.
