Arsenal have dismissed an attempt to sign Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira on the cheap.
The 26-year old spent last season on loan at the Serie A side, and was consistently one of their best players.
His loan agreement included an option to buy at £12.5 million and, at one stage, it was expecte to be a formality that they would exercise that.
But now Fiorentina, looking for a bargain,. Have gone back on the agreement,a nd have offered the Guuners just £5.5 million.
And that has so infuriated Arsenal that they have not responded to the offer.
Instead, they have begun work trying to find another club that will more closely match their value of a player who has got one more year left on his current contract at the Emirates.
