Eddie Nketiah has been included on the list of players to be released by Arsenal, along with Alexander Lacazette who has already announced he is rejoining Lyon.
That is despite the 22-year old striker apparently having agreed a new deal at the club.
However, there is no apparent contradiction there. Against Nktetiah’s name on the list released by the club there was an asterisk which said that a new contract has been offered.
It is still widely expected that, when he returns from holiday he will pen a new five year deal worth up to £100,000 a week, including bonuses and sign-on fee.
He will compete for minutes up front next season with the new striker that the Gunners intend to sign this summer. Gabriel Jesus remains the primary target, but almost every day there is a story linking the Manchester City striker to another club, although this could well be agent talk in a bid to drive up his fee.
