Swiss defender Manuel Akanji has been offered to Arsenal after being told that he can leave Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
He was a regular for Dortmund last season, but finds himself surplus to requirements following the sacking of head coach Marco Rose, and the imminent arrivals of German internationals Niklas Süle and Nico Schlotterbeck at the club.
Akanji’s representatives are trying to engineer a move to the Premier League for a player who impressed on international duty against England in March.
And the Gunners are reported to be a top target because it would reunite the player with his international captain Granit Xhaka.
His asking price is around £21 million, but his agents believe this is likely to drop in the coming weeks.
