Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic is a potential transfer target for Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are looking for a replacement for Sadio Mané, who has announced that he wants to leave Anfield after a six year stay. With Bayern Munich his likely destination.
And, whilst the German’s squad has lots of attacking options in his squad, he is looking to bring in another wide forward to fill the gap that will be left by Mané’s departure.
Pulisic has struggled for game time under Thomas Tuchel. Especially last season, although injury problems have also hindered his progress at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea may not want to sell to a direct rival, but selling the American now could help make way in Tuchel’s squad for the regular goalscorer he seeks.
Still just 23, and under contract in West London for another two years, Pulisic will want to be playing regular football next season ahead of the World Cup, where he will be expecting to lead the USA attack.
And he may take inspiration from the example of Mo Salah, another man who struggled at Chelsea, but who later became a world class player under Klopp.
