Former Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata could be set to join Arsenal.
That is according to reports in Italy, which suggest that the 29-year old is set to leave Juventus after a two year loan spell with the Serie A club, who have declined the option to sign him on a permanent basis.
That is despite having a pre-agreed fee of £25 million included in his loan agreement from his parent club Atlético Madrid.
The Gunners are prepared to pay the fee, although there have been suggestions that the player is unconvinced by the Arsenal project, and that there are numerous other clubs chasing his signature.
Morata will turn 30 in October, so his profile does not fit with the younger age profile that Mikel Arteta is trying to build his squad around. And he struggled during his previous spell in English football, with just 24 gaols in 72 appearances for Chelsea, so there may be options better suited to the Premier League.
