According to reports in Italy, Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Bologna full-back Aaron Hickey.
The 19-year old Scottish international joined the Serie A club from Hearts two years ago, and has already played for Bologna 48 times, notching up five goals.
It is even claimed that the Gunners have submitted a bid of £21.75 million for Hickey.
Mikel Arteta is looking for a reliable back-up for another Scot, Kieran Tierney, who has struggled with a series of injuries since joining the club from Celtic three years ago.
Nuno Tavares was meant to be that player, but he has proved to be wildly inconsistent, and has struggled with the defensive side of his game.
Hickey also has the ability to pay across the back line and further forward in midfield, and his versatility is an added attraction for Arteta and his management team.
