Chelsea are set to re-ignite their interest in Barcelona full-back Sergio Dest.
Now that the takeover has finally been completed, the West London club can turn their attention to transfer business, with revamping their defence a priority.
They have already lost Antonio Rüdiger and Andreas Christensen, and both César Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso both want to leave as well, with Barcelona their preferred destination.
And that has led them to revisit their interest in USA international,, Dest, who was on their radar back in January. Although he is predominantly a right-back, he can also play on the left, and his versatility is highly prized by Thomas Tuchel.
Barcelona’s continuing fragile situation means that they cannot register any new players before offloading some of their existing squad first, and that could allow Chelsea to make a player plus cash swap deal for the 21-year old, with Alonso heading the other way.
