Fans of Serie A club Fiorentina are unhappy now that their option to buy Lucas Torreira from Arsenal at a pre-agreed fee has expired.
The Uruguayan international had spent the season on loan at Fiorentina and had impressed with a consistent string of performances in their midfield.
It seemed inevitable that the club was going to take up their option to sign him for £12/7 million, but then they had a change of mind, deciding that he was over-priced.
And now, with the option having expired at the end of May, he is due to return to London, but is unlikely to stay there. Instead, the Gunners will be looking to find somebody else willing to buy him.
Fiorentina fans believe that the pre-agreed fee was fair and have been quick to make their feelings to the club’s owners clear.
Torreira and his agent are also reported to be unhappy with Fiorentina’s belated attempt to play hardball.
