United considering Kanté bid

Manchester United are weighing up a summer bid for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kanté.

The 31-year old’s current contract at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of next season, and United want to explore whether their Premier League rivals want to try and sell him whilst they can still get decent money for him this summer.

New United manager Eric Ten Hag has identified midfield as one priority area in a team that needs strengthening in almost all areas, and believes that Kanté could provide the bite and energy that so often seemed to be lacking last season.

The Frenchman did not have his best season at Stamford Bridge, with injury too often impeding his progress.

However, wen fit, he remains one of the first names on the team sheet for Thomas Tuchel, and the West London club may be reluctant to sell him.

At the same time, there is an acceptance there is a need to learn from the mistakes of this last campaign and not allow too many assets to run down their contracts, allowing them to leave for free at the end of it.
