Eddie Nketiah is set to perform a major U-turn by signing a new contract with Arsenal.
The 22-year old was set to leave the club on a free next month, and was being pursued heavily by a number of other teams, particularly Crystal palace and West Ham United,
However, he has now been convincedto stay at the Emirates, and is on the verge of signing a new five year contract worth up to £100,000 a week, although this figure includes a signing-on fee and bonuses.
That does not preclude Arsenal signing another striker – or two – this summer, but does mean that they have at least one forward option in their squad, with Flo Balogun set for another loan period next season.
Mikel Arteta always made clear his wish for Nketiah to stay, and now it looks like he has got his wish.
